Alocasia Black Velvet is a striking velvet-leafed Alocasia. Its dark green, almost black, leaves create a great contrast against its white veins. This specific plant has stable variegation, creating sections of pure white on its foliage. The velvety feel along with its corrugated texture makes it as satisfying to touch as it is to look at.
Alocasias grow from rhizomes, or tubers, and can be propagated through separating baby rhizomes, or corms, off of the mother plant. This also means that as long as you have a healthy tuber, you have a plant, even if it loses all its leaves or roots. They prefer to stay on the moist side, without drying out between waterings. They benefit from higher humidity but generally will acclimate to whatever levels you grow them in. They prefer bright indirect light, though Alocasias can grow in lower light, however, they will become leggy while they reach for the light.
You will receive the exact plant pictured so please be sure to look at all of the photos. It is a rooted growing plant in a 3 inch pot, potted in perlite.
